How does it work?
The cell has a bitter taste layer coating on the back (negative terminal), and when in contact with saliva, it's identified as a potential toxic by the brain, prompting the child to spit the battery out. The physical reaction is instinctive which reduces the risk of ingestion.

Duracell's CR2025 lithium coin batteries also come with other child-secure features like child-resistant packaging with double blister that is difficult for young children to open with bare hands. Also, child safety warning is embossed on each battery and printed on the packaging to remind parents to keep the batteries out of reach of children.
